We have plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in supporting the life of our church!  Here are just a few:

  • Worship Team  (Contact Diane Schmidt, 410-326-4475)
    • Ushers:  Help folks find a seat, hand out welcome packets, pass the offering plate and guide people when it’s their turn to receive communion.  Serve one month at a time.  Needed at all services.
    • Greeters:  Welcome people at the door, hand out bulletins and welcome packets, and help folks find Sunday School rooms and answer questions.  Serve one month at a time.  Great way to get know people!  Needed at all services.
    • Reader:  Read the scriptures during the service.  Serve one month at a time.  Needed at all services.
    • Acolytes:  Light candles at beginning of service, put out candles at end of service, and assist Pastor with special events such as baptisms.  Children ages 8-12; training required.  Serve as scheduled.  Needed at all services.
    • Altar Support:  Ensure the altar has the correct colors and replace candles as needed.  Needed before the 9:40 service.
    • Technical Sound Team:  Run the sound system for the Praise Band.  Needed at the 11:00 service.
    • Technical Media Team:  Prepare slides and/or run the projector for the 11:00 service, displaying the prayers and words to the music.  Needed at the 11:00 service.
    • Set Up/Take Down Team:  Set up chairs, altar and musical instruments for the 11:00 service (on Saturday night) and take down after the service
  • Nursing Home Worship Service – Be part of the team that presents a worship service at a local nursing home once a month
  • Sunday School Teacher or Substitute (Contact the office at 410-326-4475)
    • Positions available with adult, youth and children as a lead teacher, assistant, or substitute
    • All persons working with children will be required to be fill out Safe Sanctuaries paperwork and undergo a background check
  • Prayer Chain prayer (Contact Jody Purcarey, 410-326-4475, jpurcarey.stpaul@comcast.net)
    • Be a Prayer Warrior!  Sign up to receive prayer requests either by phone or via email
  • Mowing Team (Contact Chair of Trustees, 410-326-4475)
    • Mowing is done on Thursday evenings during the growing season.  Ride a riding mower!
  • Kitchen Committee (Contact the office, 410-326-4475, (Stpaulumcinfo@gmail.com)
    • The Kitchen Committee supports the monthly Fellowship Dinners on the 1st Wed of the month, as well as funeral repasts and other events
  • Lay Speaker (Contact Senior Pastor Walter, 410-326-4475 or Cal Colvin)
    • Lay speaking is a broad avenue for ministry in and through the United Methodist Church.  Lay speaking involves many and varied ministries that fall into one of three broader categories:
      • Leading  –  within the local church and the community
      • Caring –  responding to the needs of others with loving service
      • Communicating –  proclaiming God’s love for a broken world
      • P – Pray for his/her flock regularly.
      • A – Be available.
      • C – Contact his/her flock regularly.
      • God gives His Spirit
      • Attend a 15-hour 12- unit seminar
      • Support by the pastor
      • Being part of someone else’s flock
      • Anyone who feels loved by God
      • Anyone who wants to share His love
      • Anyone who cares
